Apple Designers Inspired by Braun

What inspires Apple?

I encountered this vintage Braun phonograph at aosta furniture + decor in Chicago. I’d heard that many Apple hardware designs are inspired by mid-century Braun products, but I’d never seen one in person.

The inner gray rectangle (the turntable) is almost exactly the size and shape of an iPad. The roundness of the corners is very familiar as well.

The similarities become like an optical illusion you can’t un-see.
